History Of Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh is regarded as one of the most progressive states of the country today. It has seen a great development on the industrial front, with the IT sector acting as a growth engine. The state has merited visits of world leaders for its impressive achievements. 

Known as the rice bowl of the South, Andhra Pradesh has an excellent conducive climate for growing food and non food crops. Paddy, pulses, oilseeds, millets are major food crops while tobacco, cotton, chillies, vegetables, fruits, are other commercial and horticulture crops. The state is a leading producer of many of these crops. 

The State capital of Hyderabad is expanding at a very fast rate, with the development of world class infrastructure. The state will has a world class international airport, express highways, and other infrastructure. The major towns of the state, like Visakhapatnam, Tirupathi, Guntur, Rajamundry, Nellore and Anantapur are now attracting IT and ES investments. Major world players are eager to invest in AP. Services sector contributes 49% to the State's GDP. 

With FDI flow increasing to the state, and with hardware facility coming up, linkages both forward and backward, are bound to happen. The state accounts for about seven per cent of all new investments in the country. Foreign Direct investments have been rising. The state ranks fourth in terms of attracting FDI. 

It is not only on the industrial front, AP is progressing in agricultural and socio-economic front too . Important knowledge collaborations with world leaders in agriculture have improved yields. Government's emphasis on Irrigation projects, and organic farming will improve the state of agriculture further. 

The workforce of AP, well known for their presence in the IT sector, both in India and abroad have contributed well to the growth of the state. The SHG movement in AP has also attracted the attention of many countries and the women of AP stand as a role model in their contribution to the rural economy.
